Miranda Dahl, Owner & Promotional Mixologist
Miranda co-owns and runs Prototype 237, a 5,000 square foot creative co-living arts and performance space in Paterson, New Jersey, that houses a professionally lit and sound-designed stage, recording studio, woodshop, communal kitchen, bedrooms, and loft for touring musicians. Prototype has served an audience of almost 4,000 people from New Jersey and the Northeast since 2020.
As the Director of Operations and Outreach, Miranda is responsible for creating long-term strategic plans, producing shows, creating promotional content for digital marketing outlets, and growing relationships with donors. As Executive Artistic Partner, Miranda contributes to the overall creative vision for the space and aids the Creative Director in booking shows. In 2024, She also founded The Sappho Room, a queer club based out of Prototype 237, a necessity for queer folk with limited spaces in the surrounding area. As of June 2025, it now includes about 60 members.
Miranda created Workaholic Media, a design and marketing house for affordable promotional materials and strategies, after recognizing the need in her various theater management roles. She served as the Technical Manager at The Tank (Manhattan, 2021-2023), an incubator theater serving upwards of 2,000 emerging artists each year and as the Theater Manager of Art House Productions (Jersey City, 2019-2021), where she co-produced the Your Move Modern Dance Festival and received a Stage Manager’s Award for Excellence from the New Jersey Theater Alliance. It was clear that the many artists and producers that passed through these doors were either drowning in costs from outsourcing promotional work or drowning in lack of sleep from creating these materials themselves, with the limited hours they had left in the day following writing workshops, production meetings, rehearsals, and performances. Miranda definitely experienced the latter when writing, choreographing, and producing her own mixed-media physical theatre work, Haidar.
Miranda’s expertise is home-grown, tested over years of non-profit management, her own small business goals, and her own artistic endeavors. She brings a highly personal touch to all of her client based work and strongly believes in collaborative working relationships. She will fight for your ideas and knows how to communicate with both creatives and businessfolk. She is goal directed, takes initiative, and delivers on time—or preferably ahead of time ;)
Miranda graduated from Pratt Institute in 2018, with a BFA in printmaking and a minor in cultural studies. In 2017, she attended London’s Central Saint Martins to study performance design. Miranda has worked in production for several years taking on various roles as Co-Producer, Director, Stage Manager, Media Technician, and Tabulator. She has toured nationally and internationally with Beyond The Stars Talent Competition, Open Call Competition, and THE SOCIETY.
Growing up, Miranda trained extensively in contemporary, jazz, ballet, and hip hop dance at Dancefx, a not-for-profit studio in Athens, GA, where she also choreographed for Dancefx Concert Dance Company, the FX Performance companies, and Xtensity. During the summer of 2009, she studied at the American Dance Festival School in Durham, North Carolina, training with choreographers from companies such as Shen Wei Dance Arts and The Forsythe Company. Her artistic interests consider the link between fine art and performance—how they combine to inform and develop each other. Miranda deeply loves art, artists, community, and always finding a good time to be had…anywhere!
